POSITION OVERVIEW
Performs basic to intermediate coating of customer parts in an established sequence with various chemical solutions as required to maintain specified tolerances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
With close supervision performs the following:
Use a variety of chemical solutions and finishes to coat the surface of customer parts following the steps on the job traveler
Perform calculations from factors provided on the job traveler to determine amperes, ampere-minutes or tank dwell time for electrolytic plating
Measures and mixes required plating or cleaning solutions to accomplish the required results in performing plating operations
Responsible for cleaning, plating, rinsing, drying, and baking the parts
Controls and assures that the type of materials being deposited and coated are in conformance with job specifications
Adjusts controls to set temperatures and amperages
Check the functioning of equipment periodically during the process to estimate additional plating time required
Periodically tests solutions using appropriate testing devices and introducing additives required to keep the solutions at proper strength, density, and temperature
Operates various different tools and equipment pertaining to plating operations such as hoists, rectifiers, pumps, parts washer, filters, calipers, micrometers etc.
Performs record keeping pertaining to operations, such as baking time, work logs
Responsible for operator routine daily maintenance on equipment
Performs housekeeping and follows safety regulations
Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of the department
Assists other team members as required

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Computer Skills: Basic computer entry knowledge
Reading Comprehension: Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, job travelers, and communications
Writing Skills: Ability to write English of a level required for Company shop documents and computer software entry
Mathematical Skills: Basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
Chemistry: Knowledge of chemical composition , properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations they undergo
Attention to Detail: Must be thorough in completing work tasks
Equipment: Plating tanks, hoists, bake ovens, rectifiers, pumps, filters, micrometers, calipers
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education: High school diploma or GED
Certifications/Licenses: None
Experience:
Required: 1 year experience, or equivalent skills and knowledge in plating operations
Preferred: 2 - 3 years’ experience, or equivalent skills and knowledge in plating operations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Physical Requirements: This position requires the employee to stand and walk frequently; lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds; finger and wrist dexterity for repetitive motion.
Must be able to stand, twist, lift, pinch, walk, bend, kneel and have hand and wrist dexterity. Required to wear PPE (i.e. face, foot, eye, hand, and/or hearing protection)
Work Environment: While performing duties of the job, the employee will work in a metal finishing environment. The employee will be exposed to fumes and vapors, high noise exposure. Exposure to chemicals, cold, heat, humidity, dust, fumes, and noise. We provide a regulated, safe/healthy environment for our employees.
ITAR REQUIREMENT
This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.
PAY RANGE
$18 - $20 / hour
